The Village of Irvington celebrated July 4th a day late due to the inclement weather. The fireworks were fantastic as well as the weather. The Irvington Fire Department stood by to ensure the safety of the village residents as well as the team setting off the fireworks.

Irvington Historic Celebration Day

Lieutenant David Dowd, June 15

The Village of Irvington celebrated being labeled a historic district on June 14th. There were numerous events and tours happening throughout the village during the day. The Irvington Fire Department had an open house and shared some of its historic memorabilia as well as providing tours of the fire trucks.

Fire Department Training News

Lieutenant David Dowd, June 12

On Tuesday, June 10th, the members of the Irvington Fire Department Water Rescue team went out on the Hudson River in Marine 4. Members were trained on boat operations and some used this opportunity to practice operating the boat.

The Water Rescue Team drills every other Tuesday and you can often see them in the summer months traveling up and down the Hudson River.

Memorial Day Parade

Lieutenant David Dowd, May 26

Today the Irvington Fire Department participated in Irvington's Memorial Day ceremonies. The ceremonies started on Main Street which were followed by a parade that ended at Memorial Field. While at Memorial Field, the department participated in additional ceremonies. It was a great day to reflect and celebrate all those that sacrificed for this country.

Fire Department Training News

This week the Irvington Fire Department went over to the Westchester County Training center where they practiced bailout training. The goal of bailout training is to utilize an emergency evacuation system for firefighters who are trapped in a building or some other location where they must evacuate and there is no 'normal' escape route.
