Ice Rescue Training

On March 1st, members of the Irvington Fire Department took an Ice Rescue Class. The day started with a class room session and then firefighters went to the Irvington Reservoir to practice their skills. Firefighters performed the role of rescuer as well as victim. During the week of 2/16/15 the Irvington Fire Department was trained in First Aid and CPR/AED training. Members watched videos and received hands on instruction from instructor Joan from the Briarcliff Ambulance/Fire Department.

Structure Fire: Ardsley Country Club

Lieutenant David Dowd, December 15

On Saturday December 13th at 04:42 hours, the Irvington Fire Department and Dobbs Ferry Fire Department were dispatched to 100 N. Mountain Drive, the Ardsley Country Club for a heavy smoke condition. Upon arrival, units found a heavy fire condition.

On Tuesday (11/18), the Irvington Fire Department did a hands on extrication training. Members broke in to 2 crews where they practiced extrication skills on 2 cars. This was a great opportunity for some of our newer members to learn the art of extrication as well as older members to fine tune their techniques.

IFD Helps Irvington Football Team With the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Lieutenant David Dowd, August 22

On Friday August 22nd, the Irvington Fire Department helped the Irvington Football team with the ALS Ice bucket challenge. The crew brought Ladder 36 to assist in the dowsing of the team. When it was all said and done, the team was a tad bit chilly and wet!

The Irvington Fire Department wishes the Irvington Football team the best of luck in this years season.
