By Lieutenant David Dowd
April 18, 2014

On April 18th at approximately 2340 hours the Irvington Fire Department was dispatched to a possible structure fire on Harriman Road. The Irvington Police arrived on scene first and extinguished the fire at the front of the house. Upon the fire department arrival, Chief Tarricone confirmed smoke coming from the structure. When crews made their way in to the building, they confirm a working fire in the front of the house. Crews stretched 2 lines to control the fire. Firefighters conducted a successful search of the structure to ensure all family members made it out of the house safely. Additionally, crews conducted overhaul operations when the fire was deemed under control. This house was under renovation due to damage it sustained during Hurricane Sandy when a tree fell on the roof.

Neighboring departments were requested to the scene to assist the Irvington Fire Department.

Overall, a great job done by the Irvington Fire Department, Police Department as well as all neigboring departments and agencies that came to assist.

Units: Irvington Fire Department

Mutual Aid: Dobbs Ferry Engine and Ladder to the scene, Elmsford FAST, Tarrytown Engine 80 to Irvington's headquarters to stand by, the Westchester Cause & Origin team as well as Daisy the Arson Dog.
