On Saturday, February 18th at approximately 5:57PM, the Irvington Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to Beckett Close in the Legend Hollow Complex for a dog in a pond with a child following in after. Upon arrival 1st Assistant Chief Joe Trama and 2nd Assistant Chief David Dowd identified that the child was not in the water. Upon further investigation the yellow lab was out in the middle of the pond clinging on to the ice. Chief Dowd suited up in his cold water suit as well as other members of the water rescue unit. Chief Dowd jumped in the water pulled the dog safely to shore. It was a great team effort and we had a successful outcome.
