It is with sadness to announce the passing of retired firefighter William Palermo. Bill was a firefighter for 28 years and held the rank of Lieutenant during his service to the community.

Obituary for Mr William Palermo

William G. Palermo (Bill), beloved husband, father, brother and friend, passed away peacefully the morning of May 10th, 2017 at the age of 70. Bill was a longtime resident of Irvington for 53 years. He was a veteran who served in the United States Navy for 4 years as a Petty Officer Yeoman, stationed on the USS William H. Standley in Iceland. During his service, he earned the Navy Commendation Ribbon and National Defense Service Medal and was honorably discharged in 1970. After the Navy, Bill became employed as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service office in Irvington serving for 35 years. He was recognized in 2003 for a perfect 30 year attendance record of never being out sick, which continued until his retirement in 2006! Bill was an extremely proud volunteer fireman for the Irvington Fire Department for 28 years.
Bill was predeceased by his wife, Ann Marie, who he was married to for 33 years. He is survived by his daughter Sarah of Irvington, his sisters Judeann and Laurie of Rhode Island, several cousins, nieces, nephews and his Yorkshire Terrier, Leela.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Irvington Fire Company or to the Irvington Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Memorial wake will be at Edwards Dowdle Funeral Home Friday 5/19 2-4PM & 7-9PM Funeral Service at Dobbs Ferry Lutheran Church on Saturday 5/20 at 10AM
