Requirements and responsibilities to be an Irvington Volunteer Firefighter

• Live or work in the Village of Irvington or Irvington Fire District
• Must pass physical examination given by Fire Department Physician
• Must be 17 years old
• Must successfully complete the 96 hour NY State Firefighter I training program within the first year
• Attend and participate in departmental training sessions on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month
• Attend monthly meetings on the 4th Thursday of every month
• Optional other monthly training for water rescue, confined space, rope rescue teams
• Respond to at least 10% of all fire calls (approx 30 calls) and 25% of trainings
• Must successfully pass a NY State Office of Fire Prevention & Control arson background check.
