On Saturday, March 4th, the Village of Irvington held its first annual Penguin Plunge. Village residents braved the frigid waters of the Hudson River all in an effort to raise money for some great programs that the Irvington Recreation department had to cut due to budget constraints. The Irvington Fire Department and members of the department's dive and water rescue unit assisted with the event. Divers braved the icy waters in their water rescue and SCUBA gear, standing by in the event of an emergency. The participation of the Irvington Fire Department allowed Village residents to water rescue and SCUBA unit in action, a vital resource many were unaware existed.

Those that took the plunge as well as those watching from shore had a great time as the event proved to be a great success.
