Irvington firefighters used Westchester County's new car fire training simulator at the fire training center in Valhalla. The simulator, which had just been placed in service, replicates various vehicle fire emergencies inside and outside the garage. The fire simulator allows the operator to safely control the training scenarios at the push of a button, while clean-burning propane fuel eliminates environmental concerns of burning a real vehicle.
Irvington firefighters practiced techniques for proper extinguishment of car fires, attacking a car fire inside a garage. Firefighters also discussed the hazards and challenges associated with both types of operations.
