Irvington Firefighters battled a midday blaze Sunday, fighting through bitter cold temperatures. The call for a working structure fire at 87 South Buckhout Street came in at 11:26 AM. There was a flashover as the first-due units arrived on scene, presenting the firefighters with very heavy fire conditions. Assistance from Dobbs Ferry was called in immediately as crews quickly knocked down the main body of fire by means of an aggressive interior attack.
