Exhaust extraction system makes firehouse safer for firefighters

The installation of a Nederman exhaust system has been completed at fire headquarters making the firehouse compliant with federal air quality regulations. Made possible by a FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant, the system took two weeks to install and removes 100% of the diesel exhaust through hoses attached to the trucks. The hose is connected to the truck using a magnet and rides along a rail as the truck leaves the firehouse. Once the hose line reaches a designated location on the rail the magnet releases and the hose disconnects from the truck just as it leaves the firehouse.
