The Irvington Fire Department was awarded a $10,000 grant to help underwrite the costs of the lift mechanism recently installed for Marine 4. With the state now picking-up the tab for around 70% of the costs of the lift, the department will now have more funds available for additional water rescue equipment and training. The costs of training and equipping a rescue diver have increased significantly in the past few years. Thanks to the state, we will be able to further expand our cadre of certified rescue divers as well as boat operators and water rescue technicians.
The Chiefs would like to thank Mayor Erin Malloy, Village Manager Larry Schopfer, and Clerk-Treasurer Ed Ritter for their help in securing this funding.
