At 04:25 in the morning of February 29th, Irvington was dispatched to a multiple-alarm church fire in Sleepy Hollow. R-49 was requested to respond as the FAST unit, and shortly thereafter, L-36 was called to a rapidly spreading fire in the annex of the Presbyterian Korean Church. Upon arrival, L-36 was put to work looking for fire extension from the annex into the sanctuary. Soon afterwards, the truck was relocated to the rear of the church, where its 105' aerial and its crew were put to work opening the slate roof to expose the main body of fire and facilitate extinguishment. Meanwhile, R-49's crew was replaced as FAST unit by an Ossining crew, and subsequently was put to work as an additional truck company looking for fire extension in the interior of the auditorium and kitchen. Irvington firefighters operated on location for almost four hours and played a key role in bringing the blaze under control.
